Why “Relax” is Important Fertility Advice

“Relax” is probably one of the most annoying advice you can hear on your fertility journey.

Would “chill out” or “let it go” be better?  Meh, probably not.

So hear me out as I make the case to just chill about the whole getting pregnant thing.

Before I do that, I’d like for you to pause and think about everything you have in your life which you appreciate and that’s going well.  Partner, family, friends, pets, job, house, food, sun, being alive, etc.  It’s even better if you write it down on a piece of paper.

Got it?

Next, think of or write in a second column the things that aren’t going well.  Getting pregnant is one of them.  Hopefully this list is much shorter.  If not, you’re in serious trouble and need to re-evaluate your entire life.

But assuming that your first list is much longer than your second, where do you think you should put your attention?

The default is to work on the problem.  That’s how we’re taught – if you want something, you’ve gotta make it happen with your actions.

So you’re on Dr. Google turning over every stone to figure out how to get pregnant.

Don’t get me wrong…there are definitely things you can do to improve your chances, which I cover in great detail in my other blogs.

But at a certain point, you need to just let it go and live your life in appreciation of the things that ARE going well.  Your point of attraction is where your focus is.

Because truth be told, your real power is in your thoughts, NOT in the nitty gritty of what to eat, what supplements to take, what exercise is best.  All those details are secondary to controlling your thoughts which then drive your actions and behaviors.

Revel in the good stuff to create more positive momentum so you can get even more numminess.

Or you can despair over what you don’t have and you’ll get more of the lack.   Because, in focusing on the absence of your baby, you shift your attention away from the good stuff and in your neglect, that starts to fall apart as well.

So choose wisely because that’s where you’re steering your journey.
