Are you a sprinter or a marathoner?
July 7, 2021
I have a saying that I’ve been telling my clients for years about the fertility journey…
“Think of it as a marathon, not 28 day sprints (or however long your cycles are).”
This applies whether you’re trying to conceive naturally or with medicated fertility treatments.
This journey is ultimately won, for the vast majority of women who have been experiencing difficulty getting pregnant, with consistency and perseverance.
There is nothing sexy about it…just pure grit and clear focus on where you want to go.
Having the mindset that this cycle is going to be the one sets you up for failure.
For the simple reason that you can’t predict the future.
It seems obvious but still many women pin their hopes on the upcoming cycle, natural or medicated.
You can do your best to influence the factors within your control such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle components that contribute to your well-being.
Although they’re important to success, what I’ve found with most women is that those areas pale in comparison with what’s going on in their heads and hearts…their beliefs and moment-to-moment thoughts.
Personally, I believe that the emotional aspect contributes up to 90% of success. In my experience, the older you are the more it becomes the deciding factor (NOT egg quality), especially if you’re in your 40s where the average success rate is less than 3%.
You probably already understand how important it is for children to believe in themselves. If they’re told something is not possible, they often take on that belief whether or not it’s true. On the other hand, children with supportive parents and social structures are much more likely to achieve their goals.
This holds true for your fertility journey as well.
Your ultimate success is directly related to the strength of your belief in yourself to have a healthy baby. The stronger it is, the better your chances.
The reason is because you will be more consistent with your daily efforts in improving your well-being and persevere through the disappointments. And you are willing to do this month after month, year after year.
As the saying goes, “slow and steady wins the race.”
Yes, you can do this by yourself. But there are deep energetics that you need to understand to manifest your baby. Some things are outside the scope of your knowing. You don’t know what you don’t know.
